Wabasha-Kellogg Advances In 1A East

The Wabasha-Kellogg Falcons, behind a 26 point effort from Ryan Wolfe, advanced to the second round of the Section 1A East Boys Basketball Tournament on Tuesday night with a 59-50 win over Schaeffer Academy.  The Falcons went into the game as the tournament’s #7 seed, and Schaeffer Academy as the #10 seed.

Schaeffer Academy had built up a 27-22 halftime lead, much due to the three point shooting of Zach Sanger.  Sanger ended the evening as the game’s scoring leader with 35 points ( including 8 three point field goals ).  Schaeffer shot a total of 11 three point field goals in the game compared to two for the Falcons, but the Falcons made much of that difference up at the free throw line where they shot 13 of 20 compared Schaeffer’s 1 for 3 for the game.

Wabasha-Kellogg, now 5-21, will move on to play #2 seeded Spring Grove in Spring Grove on Thursday at 7PM.  Schaeffer Academy ends their season at 2-24.
