Following up on a thirteen goal performance against Farmington on Tuesday night, the Lakeville North Panthers scored 12 goals en route to a 12-6 win over the Eagan Wildcats Thursday night at Lakeville North High School. The win put the Panthers at 2-0 in the South Suburban Conference and 3-1 overall.
The Panthers and Wildcats were tied 2-2 at the end of the first quarter. Both Panther goals were scored by Max Johnson, with Eagan goals coming from Shane Kalb and Jonathan Lee. The Panthers pulled away slightly by halftime, going into the break with a 6-3 lead. Max Johnson completed his hat trick with a goal, along with goals from Roman Rohrbach, Robby Gale and Mike Hadacek. The lone Wildcats goal was scored by Sean Mountain.
In the third quarter, the Wildcats’ Noah Simpson scored to put the score at 6-4, but four consecutive North goals (including 3 by Sam Tweed) put the game all but out of reach. The Wildcats added a goal from Jonathan Lee before the end of the quarter to put the score at 10-5.
The fourth quarter was a little more defensive, with North scoring just two goals, one by Robby Gale and the other by Max Johnson ( his fourth ). Andrew Toussaint scored a goal for the Wildcats to make the final score 12-6.
The Wildcats, now 1-4 overall, will next play on Tuesday in Farmington at 7:30. The Panthers will play on Saturday in Eden Prairie at 6PM.
